I came to Beijing to watch the Bird's Nest concert and ultimately chose Grand Skylight Catic Hotel Beijing. Originally, I only placed my order based on its location, but when I opened the door, I was immediately amazed - there were not many cramped hotels in core areas, and every facility met the actual needs of travel. Even someone like me who carries full equipment when going out couldn't find any flaws.
I booked a 42 square meter landscape room, and when I pushed the door open, the first impression was that it was spacious and bright, without any redundant decorations. The layout of all facilities showed a thoughtful consideration for the guests. The independent workbench by the window is 1.4 meters wide, and there is still ample space for my laptop, concert supplies, camera, and a pile of peripheral materials when they are all spread out. There is a whole row of charging ports hidden on the side of the desktop, Type-C、USB、 All three socket outlets are fully equipped, and even the HDMI projection cable is prepared in advance. If you want to project the photos from your camera onto the TV at night, you don't need to bring an extra cable yourself, just plug it in and it can be used.
The facilities in the bed area are designed to maximize comfort. The 2-meter-wide large bed is covered with high count cotton bedding, and there is no awkward feeling of a strange hotel when lying down. The softness and hardness of the mattress are just right, and the support is sufficient. Lying down on the street for a whole day, my waist is not sore at all. The most thoughtful feature is the design of the bedside table, with independent touch desk lamps installed on both sides, eliminating the need to search for switches in the dark. The brightness of the lights can be freely adjusted, and staying up late to fix pictures will not shake colleagues. There is also a small night light hidden on the side of the headboard, which automatically lights up soft light at the feet when getting up at night. There is no need to touch your phone to find a flashlight, and it will not disturb the sleeping people around you.
The details of the bathroom facilities exceeded expectations. A complete separation of dry and wet areas has been achieved, with the shower area, toilet area, and sink completely separated, so that two people can use them simultaneously without interfering with each other. The shower head is equipped with a large top spray and handheld dual mode, with even water output and stable water pressure. After a whole day of strolling, coming back to take a shower, the feeling of water flow wrapped around the body is particularly refreshing. In addition to the regular toiletries set, the countertop is also equipped with a magnifying makeup mirror with fill light function. Girls don't have to squint their eyes in front of the mirror to look for details when applying makeup, and even contact lenses can be easily worn. There is also a small drying rack hidden under the washbasin, which can dry washed socks and small clothes overnight without worrying about clothes not drying out on dry days in Beijing.
Even many small facilities that are easy to be ignored are particularly considerate: french window are equipped with two layers of curtains, one layer of screen curtain and one layer of full shading curtain. When you want to bask in the sun during the day, you can pull the screen curtain open, and when you want to sleep late, you can pull the full shading curtain. The room is as dark as night, and you won't be awakened by the morning sun. There is a small refrigerator hidden under the soft couch by the window, which contains two bottles of mineral water and local sour plum soup for free. When you come back in summer and take a sip, the heat all over your body instantly dissipates. There is also an air purifier hidden in the corner of the room. On the occasional hazy days in Beijing, the air is always fresh with it on, and it doesn't make your throat dry from stuffiness.

Just walked 5 minutes out of the subway station and arrived at the hotel, where the silhouette of the Bird's Nest could be seen from afar emerging from between the buildings. The gatekeeper helped me take the large suitcase containing the aid supplies and led me all the way to the lobby. He also smiled and reminded me that after the concert ended, I could take the side door of the hotel, which was less crowded and could save me 200 meters of detours. When checking in, the front desk heard that I was here to attend a concert and took the initiative to arrange a room on a high-rise building that was not close to the road. They also handed me a printed map of the surrounding area and circled the night snack shops that could be reached within a 10 minute walk, fearing that I might not be able to find food when I left the venue hungry.

What surprised me the most was the convenience of the location. It only takes 10 minutes to walk from the hotel to the Bird's Nest Water Cube. On the day of my concert, I strolled leisurely without having to go out two hours in advance to crowd people. When the show ended, tens of thousands of people rushed out together. I followed the hotel's exclusive guide channel and returned to my room in less than ten minutes. I didn't have to wait for a ride hailing service in the cold wind, nor did I have to squeeze into the subway that I couldn't get on several times. The next day, I wanted to explore the surroundings and walk for 15 minutes to reach the Olympic Park. Walking along the trail, I could walk all the way to the foot of the Olympic Tower, and the photos I took didn't even need to be filtered.
The smoke and fire around cannot be hidden. Eight minutes' walk down the stairs is the food street of the Asian Games Village. The old Beijing copper pot instant boiled meat, authentic fried sauce noodle restaurant, and late night barbecue skewer restaurant, which have been open for more than ten years, are all within walking range. After watching the concert at around midnight, I went downstairs and found an old and famous hotpot restaurant with its door open. I ate the hot copper pot and the excitement of the whole night slowly subsided.
